PERCUSSION
Percussion is the heartbeat in every performance, it gives life to the music.
From intimate venues to large scale areas, percussion provides the groove and the finishing touches that every performance deserves.
Percussion has always been a vital part of my musical journey, complementing my passion for drums and offering a different way to express rhythm. Growing up, I was always part of various percussion ensembles with Merton Music Foundation where I performed bi-annually at The Royal Albert Hall.
My skills as a session percussionist range from writing and arrangement to improvisation and time keeping . As a session musician, understanding the importance of playing for the music is crucial however. I can also step into solos and improvisation when needed. I thoroughly enjoy the performance element of percussion which enhances the visual experience as well.
I am skilled in playing a variety of various percussion instruments such as smaller hand percussion, tuned percussion, body percussion, congas and bongos. My versatility allows me to easily adapt and write parts that compliment any genre of music.
SWANSEA ARENA DECEMBER 2024
December 2024, I performed as the session percussionist at Swansea Arena for Ryan D'Auria and his 9 piece funk band. I was hired to perform a two night show called 'Dancing through the decades' where we played a range of styles from funk to old school Hip Hop. The rhythms I wrote and instruments I chose helped bring the crowd and band together. The congas in particular added a strong funky rhythmic layer which created the energy of the performance.
